Everything You Need to Know About the RAM 1500 REV
The days of the gasoline-powered Ram 1500 may not be over yet, but that isn't stopping the truck brand from taking an electrified leap toward the future with the introduction of the RAM 1500 REV – the first-ever Ram Electric truck. Slated for release in the fall of 2024, the RAM 1500 REV is ready to take the truck industry by storm, and it will be a lightning storm at that. We're sharing all the key details about Ram's long-awaited Electric Pickup truck.
EV Motor, Power, and Performance
Ram will offer two distinct battery packs for the 1500 REV, each with its own unique benefits. For starters, both packs come equipped with all-wheel as standard. The model with the 168-kWh battery will be able to tow more, will cost less, and make 654 Horsepower and 620 pound-feet of torque. The specifics of the 229.0-kWh model are still unknown, but it's anticipated that it will have a lower maximum towing capacity due to the larger battery pack's increased curb weight. Four-wheel steering will be available on each model for more precise turns in parking lots and outdoors. Similar to the models that are currently offered by the brand, the electric truck will offer an adjustable air suspension system, which can lower the truck to maximize highway efficiency and ease of loading, as well as raise ground clearance for off-road use.Towing and Payload Capability
According to Ram, the 1500 REV will be able to tow up to 14,000 pounds and carry 2,700 pounds. This is with regard to the smaller battery pack option while the larger battery pack is likely to tow less due to an increase in curb weight.
Range, Charging, and Battery Life
All-wheel drive is a standard feature on every Ram 1500 REV, however, the electric pickup has two different-sized batteries. The smaller 168.0-kWh battery should deliver up to 563 Km of range, while Ram anticipates that the larger 229.0 kWh battery will have a minimum range of 800 Kms. The truck's 800-volt architecture enables DC fast charging of up to 350.0 kWh. During optimal charging, that translates to about 160 km of range for every 10 minutes.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
For a considerable amount of time, Ram has offered a luxurious interior with quality materials in comparison to its rivals. This is unlikely to change with the brand's move towards battery dependency. The all-electric Ram 1500 promises to provide innovative ways to boost storage by doing away with the engine and other bulky powertrain components. The concept truck features adjustable seating and storage areas so that items up to eighteen feet long can fit from the bed to the frunk (front trunk). The full-size pickup is easy to use and get in and out of thanks to its powered rear tailgate, side steps, and frunk.Infotainment and Connectivity
The Ram 1500 EV concept features two 14.5-inch touchscreens that power all of the interior entertainment. There's also a head-up display, a 360-degree camera with digital side-view mirrors, and voice control. Passengers will be able to control lights, cameras, thermostats, and music systems at home, all from the front seat of their truck thanks to the Smart Home Control Feature. Features such as wireless phone charging and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto should carry over as standard features on the electric truck.
Available in five trims, including Tradesman, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Limited, and the newly introduced Tungsten trim, the Ram 1500 REV offers something for everyone. It also adds another key player in the race toward an electrified future, and the already competitive field only promises more innovation and advancement.
